been a bit busy -
Festivals in Germany, North Shields (A Stone’s Throw) and Vestrock in the Netherlands:
These are lovely photos - there are so many of me with my face contorted, acne and snaggle-tooth laid bare. Still working on that inherent worth. Getting to the roots of things now, though. I love the idea that we matter because we exist.
Speaking of inherent worth and people’s beauty, I’ve made music for this brilliant play, ‘Veyil’, by Adeola Yemitan at Peckham Fringe, 6th-8th June:
Songwriter’s Circle was beautiful:
This is Sona, who I write about constantly on this blog. She blew everyone’s minds. Barely anyone came and it was one of my favourite nights in a long time, just all of us songwriters talking about the music industry, and songs. I am sad at how fragmented things become with tiktok, we all need to be in the same room, I swear. Wish I was born a little earlier.
I’d love to do more gigs with just me and my guitar/keyboard, let me know if you want me as support or know of a bill to chuck me on <3
Closer to the ground again. Catching up with news now I’m feeling more planted in the world. Last year, I was engulfed by my own personal situations. Inch by inch, my heart is re-opening to the world. Feeling sick at the things happening, that desperate feeling of powerlessness. Still stuck in personal situations, though; cost of living in London is still a ride, but I want to be around friends for the minute - been hanging in there freelance, but it’s hard. Might drive an ice-cream bike?
If you know of anything in London, remote, whatever, that’s vaguely flexible and works with being in a band (big ask, I know), lemme know.
Slowly chipping away at art, slowly getting more confident at sharing things. Speaking to people, working with new people, trying to stay wide open and self-compassionate.
I’d love to write more in-depth things on here again, and will. All in good time.
