Just a bit longer! Of winter!
Reminder about a gig next Wednesday:
I actually interviewed the legendary Sophie (with her second album out now on Banquet Records) ahead of this show, which I’ll publish soon, on here. Here is an excerpt:
SJ: You know, I love...the sea is lovely, but I never really feel like we quite get each other. I’m all about a river. Rivers I understand. I'm like, this makes sense.
I need to be near a river. Lakes, very nice, but...
I don't know. Nothing's moving. The sea. Very nice, but overwhelming. It's big. I don't know.
The people who have an affinity with the sea, I'm kind of like…I think you're on some other level. I feel like maybe they have more of a sense of belonging to the wider earth as a whole.
The river, I don't know where it's going. I can't see either end.
CV: It leads to the sea!
SJ: I guess it does. I'm happy to go to the sea via the river. I don't know, there's something about rivers.
CV: Rivers, I have a favourite spot in my hometown, and it's a river. I think it's the river Avon, or something.
SJ: Oh yeah.
CV: And it's just the most beautiful spot. What do you think it is about rivers that draws you to them?
SJ: I had a whole therapy session where I talked about this. Because my therapist often points out that I'm often using imagery to do with water and rivers.
But I feel like there's a lack of judgement with a river. It's just always going past. It's always…it's there regardless.
bits o’ light:
<3 peace and love, more stuff soon
